Healthy Line Inframat Pro Review

I never had much interest in far infrared rays — or any alternative pain solutions, really — until my husband began to experience major back pain issues.

The muscles in his back and shoulders had become incredibly tight thanks to his long work days spent sitting at a desk.

He was working hard to change his habits and move around more, but I knew he was still suffering, and I hated to see him in pain.

As his birthday approached, an idea hit me. A new cologne or expensive dinner wouldn’t make him nearly as happy as a genuine remedy for his back pain.

But what could that remedy be?

I thought about regular medication, but I didn’t want to give him a drug as a gift, so I  scoured the web in search of alternative treatments for long-term back pain.

There were lots of interesting tips and tricks posted online, but I still couldn’t figure out what to give my husband.

My “Eureka” Moment

In a gift-giving crisis like this one, I always call on my best friends.

Over coffee, I raised the subject of back pain. I explained my husband’s difficulties and my attempts to find the best, most healing birthday present for him.

Almost immediately, one of my friends spoke up: “Healthy Line!”

“What?” I didn’t know what she was talking about, but her enthusiasm was a good sign.

“The Healthy Line Inframat Pro! You remember how I had the most unbearable stiffness and joint pain, right?

This mat absolutely got rid of it. Oh, I felt so relaxed and relieved!”

I was thrilled. I hadn’t heard of it, but if it worked for my friend, I knew I should give it a chance.

So, once again, I turned to the internet. On the Healthy Line website, I started to read about Inframat Pro and its benefits.

The manufacturer claims that Inframat Pro uses far infrared therapy to help your body in a number of different ways.

It relaxes your muscles, improves blood circulation where applied, and provides temporary relief for minor muscle pain, back pain, joint pain and stiffness.

Plus, it reduces inflammation where applied, minimizes muscle spasms, relieves minor sprains and strains, and reduces stress and fatigue by relaxing both body and mind.

In other words, Healthy Line seems to be saying, you don’t have to suffer from those twinges of pain as you walk down the street or sit at your desk.

You don’t have to be under constant physical pressure that hurts your joints.

An added bonus is that all of these benefits result in overall muscle relaxation, which means you’ll sleep much better at night.

The website also states that the Inframat Pro offers an option to regulate temperature and time so that each individual can choose the settings that best suit their needs.

The product is comfortable, medical-quality, and FDA-registered.

With a list of benefits like that, I was becoming increasingly convinced.

What About Research?

At this point, everything I had heard and read about Healthy Line Inframat Pro was promising.

Clearly the makers of Inframat Pro are confident that their product has enormous health benefits.

Still, I wasn’t entirely convinced. I wanted to double-check these claims to find out if they’re really accurate.

I began a deep-dive into the scientific backing behind far-infrared therapy. Here’s what I’ve got.

FIR Therapy Helps With Allergic Rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a chronic illness that has a significant impact on patients’ quality of life.

AR is the sixth most common chronic illness around the world.

Countless people spend a fortune treating the illness over long periods of time.

Allergic rhinitis is an IgE-mediated inflammation, which occurs because of increased vascular permeability.

Current therapeutic options include avoiding the allergen, immunotherapy, and medication.

But since these methods proved unsuccessful, scientists have turned to far infrared (FIR) therapy: an invisible electromagnetic wavelength longer than that of visible light.

FIR therapy is used to treat various vascular diseases that are caused by increased blood flow.

In 2007, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Chung-Yuan Christian University in Taiwan studied the clinical effects of FIR therapy in patients with AR.

In their research, they found that typical AR symptoms improved substantially.

Itchy eyes, rhinorrhea, sneezing, nasal itching and nasal stiffness no longer had affected their patients as significantly as before beginning the therapy.

The study concluded that FIR could not only improve the symptoms of AR, but also serve as a novel treatment modality for AR (1).

FIR Therapy Helps With Cardiovascular and Other Diseases

Physical therapy, also known as physiotherapy, is associated with the treatment of various diseases and defects.

Physical therapy is a branch of alternative therapy that many researchers claim can improve the health of a wide variety of patients.

In 2015, the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine presented evidence that convenient and non-invasive far infrared rays (FIR) are effective when it comes to treating cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, mellitus, and diabetes.

FIR therapy treats these ailments through specific molecular mechanisms.

It is linked with the increased expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase as well as nitric oxide production.

Additionally, it can regulate the profiles of certain circulating miRNAs, thus being a beneficial way of treating some chronic diseases (2).

The fact that FIR therapy has such a positive impact on patients suffering from something as serious as heart disease really impressed me.

FIR Therapy Helps Treat Arteriovenous Fistula

In yet another study conducted at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, researchers found that far-infrared therapy can effectively treat hemodialysis patients with arteriovenous fistula.

Researches performed a meta-analysis, gathering relevant information from worldwide databases including National Dissertations and Theses, Airiti Library, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, ProQuest, and PubMed/MEDLINE.

Their thorough, systematic review demonstrated that FIR interventions cause improved blood flow to and from the arteriovenous fistula (AFV), thus reducing the chances for AVF malfunctioning.

Although AVF functioning has been proven to improve with far infrared therapy, more evidence is still needed to back up the findings (3).

FIR Therapy Helps With Vascular Inflammation

In 2008, a study at the Institute of Clinical Medicine at Taiwan’s National Yang-Ming University evaluated the interaction between FIR radiation and HO-1 in regulating vascular inflammation.

FIR radiation was the main inhibitor of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha-mediated expression of E-selectin, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, interleukin-8 and many more.

Due to its inflammatory properties, FIR was mimicked by bilirubin.

All these findings support the positive effects of FIR that researchers observed in patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Consequently, FIR therapy is now associated with the induction of HO-1, and known for playing a critical role in preserving blood flow and patency of AVFs in hemodialysis patients (4).

FIR Therapy Treats Vascular-related Diseases

A study conducted in 2012 by the Department of Internal Medicine at Taipei Medical University-Shuang Ho Hospital  suggests that far-infrared therapy can also reduce the risk of vascular-related diseases.

FIR’s non-thermal effect proved to be an effective long-term protector of vascular function.

Researchers found that the biological effect of FIR on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) caused proliferation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).

FIR exposure induced the nuclear translocation of promyelocytic leukemia zinc finger protein (PLZF) in HUVECs (5).

Far Infrared Rays Inhibit Inflammation

In another 2008 study conducted at the Institute of Clinical Medicine at Taiwan’s National Yang-Ming University, researchers found that arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) in hemodialysis patients have been linked with both far-infrared (FIR) therapy and length polymorphisms of the heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) promoter.

Scientists were looking to evaluate the potential connection between FIR radiation and HO-1 in regulating vascular inflammation.

They ultimately found that FIR therapy triggers the creation of inflammatory properties via the induction of HO-1.

FIR therapy is essential to many hemodialysis patients because it inhibits inflammation, thus helping them have a more regulated blood flow and patent AVFs (6).

FIR Therapy Improves Motor Functions

In 2015 at Chi Mei Medical Center in Taiwan, scientists employed a rat model of sciatic nerve injury to investigate the effects of post-operative low-power FIR radiation therapy on nerve, end-to-end neurorrhaphy.

The researchers divided the rat models into 3 groups: (1) nerve injury without FIR biostimulation (NI/sham group); (2) nerve injury with FIR biostimulation (NI/FIR group); and (3) noninjured controls (normal group).

Their results showed that that FIR radiation treatment is effective and noninvasive when it comes to improving motor function, accelerating recovery from sciatic denervation-induced gastrocnemius muscle atrophy, regulating the inflammatory process during sciatic nerve injury, and enhancing nerve regeneration.

This significant study proved that FIR can be used as a novel treatment for various peripheral nerve diseases and injuries (7).

FIR Therapy Helps With Dysmenorrhea

I have to admit that, when I read this next study, I got particularly excited.

I’ve suffered from painful menstrual cramps for years, with very few good solutions.

Now, scientists have found that FIR therapy has significant beneficial effects for patients with primary dysmenorrhea (a.k.a. major menstrual pain).

In 2012, researchers at Taichung Veterans General Hospital studied the effect of a far-infrared belt on a group of fifty-one women suffering from dysmenorrhea.

Their findings showed that the women wearing FIR belt experienced an increased abdominal temperature of 0.6°C (3.27%), resulting in an increase in abdominal blood flow.

The group wearing FIR belt had significantly better results than the group wearing a placebo belt (8).

FIR Therapy Helps Relieve Back Pain

Lower back pain is one of the most common health issues worldwide.

Dr. Frank Ervolino and Dr. Frank Gazze were searching for better treatments for their patients with back problems.

In 2015, they conducted research on far infrared therapy to determine whether it can truly ameliorate and treat back pain.

In their study, 50 individuals with lower back pain were told place an FIR pad on their chairs at work over a period of four weeks.

During that four-week period of significant contact with the pad, the individuals reported significant physical and mental changes.

Their body pain scales reduced significantly, and no adverse effects occurred (9).

My Experience

After spending time reviewing current research on the therapeutic benefits of  FIR therapy, I decided to give this product a shot, and I ordered Inframat Pro online.

Surprisingly enough, the order came on time and wrapped up in a nice package.

The mat was heavy but had a smooth, comfortable feel.

Of course, as great as it looked on the outside, I couldn’t jump to conclusions.

I needed to make sure the mat really worked. So, as soon as it arrived, I made my husband test it out.

As time passed, he started to experience some major improvements.

It felt like a miracle. Everything I had read in my research was coming true.

Even though it might not be a permanent solution for my husband’s health issues, it is the greatest treatment tool I have ever experienced.

What really sets this mat apart from traditional is the complete lack of side effects.

What’s more, in addition to many major improvements, this product can help with countless minor issues like delayed onset muscle soreness, flu, various skin conditions, and many more.

The model that I ordered was the two-sided Reverse 18JT-SideA model.

Why did I choose it? Well, to be honest, the reasons are two-fold.

The first reason is that this mat is perfectly fitted to my couch. (Joke)

The second reason, though, is that it includes three different types of stones: tourmaline, jade, and amethyst.

Each type of stone is helpful in a different way.

The most beneficial and expensive stone is amethyst. This particular model has one side that consists only of amethyst stones. The stones are crushed and inserted into special tubes.

The amethyst side is my favorite, since it’s especially soft and comfy to touch.

The other side, which consists of jade and tourmaline stones, is my husband’s favorite.

When you lay on jade and tourmaline side, you can actually feel the energy being admitted by the stones.

In all honestly, I’m not sure if that energy feeling comes from negative ions or FIR, but it feels wonderfully energizing against the skin.

The total cost was somewhat pricey, but in the end, I think the mat was well worth the money.

This particular model sells for $899 + $40 shipping. I managed to find a 10% off discount code (“deduct10” – you can use it too!), which qualified me for free shipping, so my final cost ended up being $809.

That’s a lot of money. But honestly, as I sit here thinking about how much use this mat is getting right now, I know I made the right purchase.

After I unpacked it, I placed it on our couch; we haven’t moved it off the couch since.  Any time we’re sitting in the living room, one of us is using the mat.

It’s become an essential in our home.

Before get into the health benefits, I’d like to make something clear.

I’m luckily in that I don’t have any major illnesses.

I can’t claim that this mat miraculously cured me.

However, what I can do is share my experience as a healthy person and my husband’s experience as a person who suffers from back pain.

When my husband started using Inframat Pro, he began to feel much better.

Before the Inframat Pro, he couldn’t sit in a chair for a full day.

He was becoming increasingly unproductive simply because he could not sit at his desk for extended hours.

As soon as he started using Inframat Pro, he experienced huge improvements.

Currently, instead of sitting for a full day in his work chair, he works until 2 PM, then takes an Inframat break for 30 minutes to watch TV.

That 30 minutes of FIR therapy relieves his back pain enough for him to finish his work day.

He’s back to his normal level of productivity, and I can tell that his overall mood and outlook have improved as a result.

Personally, I use the Inframat Pro as a heating pad.

These days, it’s so cold outside that I like to turn on my Inframat Pro as soon as I come inside and relax on it for 10-20 minutes.

It has a slightly odd (but incredibly helpful) effect. When I lay on it, I feel relaxed and sleepy, but once I get up, I feel energized.

Sometimes, when I wake up in the middle of a night and can’t fall asleep again, I lay down on the Inframat.

All it takes is a few minutes on the mat and I suddenly have a very hard time keeping my eyes open.

The friend who first told me about these mats – I owe her, big time! – has been praising them as well.

She has been using her Inframat Pro for about a year to alleviate symptoms of fibromyalgia (chronic muscle pain without specific cause), and she says she only wishes she had discovered the product sooner.

She tells me that her Inframat Pro helps her get through the day.

She even carries it around on business trips, which says a lot, since the stones (up to 200 per mat) make the mats quite heavy.

Yet I completely understand why she does it.

Conclusion

The Healthy Line website offers this brochure with a list of all problems that the mats can help. The list is quite extensive, and includes the following items:

  • Stress and tension
  • Poor blood circulation
  • Back pain or muscle pain, stiffness, or spasms
  • Migraine or tension headaches
  • Depression, anxiety, and insomnia
  • Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue
  • High blood pressure
  • Bronchial asthma/COPD
  • Arthritis
  • Symptoms of chronic illnesses

As you can see, the list is pretty impressive and lengthy.

I’m not sure the mat really helps with all these issues – it sounds like a bit of a stretch.

But I can share my own personal experience, which has made me quite impressed with the Inframat Pro.

Just think about it: When was the last time when you purchased something that you use literally every day? (The TV doesn’t count!)

This was my experience with this product.

Sure, it isn’t cheap, but it’s less expensive than other alternatives on the market.

Just the other day, I was looking into Biomat and was shocked to discover that the thing costs double what I paid for my Inframat.

One of my friends bought a Biomat, I had a chance to look at it up close.

After comparing the two brands, I can now say for sure that my Inframat Pro is better than Biomat.

I know that statement is a little vague, but that’s the feeling I got right away when I tried the Biomat, and it was affirmed when I saw the crazy high price. (If you’re interested, I’ll probably write a detailed comparison of the two brands later.)

For now, I can say confidently that my Inframat Pro feels like a more expensive product than Biomat.

I did extensive research on FIR, and I really only scratched the surface; there is so much scientific investigation into the benefits of FIR therapy happening right now.

The fact that all the research is finding great results makes me feel confident that Inframat Pro should be effective in treating the health issues my husband and I expereince.

I will most likely use it less during summer – I won’t need a heating pad then, after all – but so far this thing has been undeniably great.

If you suffer from any of the problems listed in their brochure, I genuinely recommend that you give it a try. Healthy Line offers a 45 day trial period, so if you don’t like the Inframat for any reason, you can return it and get your money back.

To me, policies like this mean that the company stands behind their products. And they should, because in my mind, they have a brilliant offering on their hands.

P.S. Make sure you use the code “deduct10” to get 10% off AND free shipping. I haven’t seen a better discount code anywhere else!

If you have personal experience with FIR therapy generally or the Inframat Pro specifically, please share in the comments section. I would love to hear about how the product has worked for you.
